On Sunday it was a hot and gorgeous day so we grabbed an inflatable boat and floated down the Aare river. Well, several boats. There were nine boats and over twenty people and man was it beautiful.
We caught a train to Thun (next time take the train to Schwäbis to save the walk through the town carrying all the crap) and pumped up the boats and put them in the river. There were many many people doing the same thing and the line to get down the ramp to the water was crowded.
The day was hot, the river was cool and it flowed very very fast. When we got off the boat to float in the water, even to swim back a few feet to the boat was a fair amount of effort. There were people drinking beer as they floated down and you could see all the boats spotting the river as far as you could see, with the alps floating high in the sky in the background. Beautiful. Sadly I have no pictures because I didn't want to risk my camera.
In total it took us about three hours to complete the trip from Thun to Bern. Then we dried the boats, walked to the tram and caught the train back to Lausanne. I made it back just in time to see the world cup. Stupid octopus.
