On the weekend we had friends visit from Geneva and celebrated Michael's big birthday! In the evening we went walking up the 4km road (now closed and a ski run) up to Berghaus Erika and had a fantastic set menu for dinner.
The walk up in the dark was fantastic, we had headlamps but the moon was very bright. The dinner was awesome and at the end of the evening we all sledding down in the darkness with just our headlamps. This was a bit of an extra adventure since it is just a road with a steep drop-off and a rocky, freezing stream 10m below. Compounding this was that for many of the guests this was their first time sledding!
However, we all survived the downhill and for his birthday Michael got some cooperative games, Space Alert and Arkham Horror. The guests started with Space Alert and while I didn't play, there was certainly a lot of yelling going on!
Later, we have started to play Arkham Horror which is different than any game I've played before, you team up with other players (its a cooperative game played against the board) and wander around the board, visiting locations in the city and monsters keep spawning. You are trying to seal gates to stop the big bad coming at the end and you need to kill monsters, buy stuff and collect tokens. The game itself takes hours to play which is why we have it set up on the dining room table and play a few turns each night (so far). It's a pretty neat game, and you can even play it solo.
