Tired after the weekend

Well, it's been a fun weekend and a great week (starting with getting my Dutch passport). I am glad that its raining again in Vancouver. What a strange thing to say, seeing as I hated the rain when I first moved here. However, since I've gotten more into skiing, I have a ski pass and I can't go in the backcountry due to a bad knee, the rain is good. I went skiing at Grouse Mountain on Sunday and ran into Marco again who was working with (I am assuming) the Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports. Then rather than cooking dinner we went out for food at one of my favorites, Banana Leaf. Yum, and I have leftovers. Oh yeah, Mal was nekkid in one of the Firefly ep's - Sarah sure missed out... ^_^

Home made mouse hotel

A currently favorite blog is www.cuteoverload.com (thanks Sarah). So speaking of all those cute little 'pocket pets', Matt from my lab showed me this link. It's how to build a humane mousetrap. I wonder how well it works. Matt has a mouse in the house so perhaps there will be updates (with photos?).

Update:
I found on boingboing another DIY mousetrap.

Firefly

I've been watching the tv show Firefly for the past month and it is a great series. There is a nice big history on wikipedia about how the show was cancelled after half a season but with big fan support they released a movie summer 2005. Anyway, what I really like about the show are the snappy lines and the interesting characters. The creator Joss Whedon has made a fascinating space western with this interesting mix of old and new. I like the little things, like how the characters all swear in Chinese (set 500 years in the future, there has been some cultural amalgamation). The picture is of the captain Mal, who I described as 'dashing' and now the guys I watch it with (Bryan, Clinton, Shawn, Frank and David) won't let me forget. And finally, it's not just a show for guys, the girls in the house have been watching it with me too.
