Hermit Crabs

I have two hermit crabs - Achilles and Henry. Yesterday I found Henry with a new shell, he had molted and ate his old one except for two rather macabre looking legs hidden in the substrate. So that's great, I can keep the crabs healthy enough that they molt. I'll post a photo later.

So what are hermit crabs? They are rather popular kids pets in the states but there are a few places that sell them in Vancovuer. These are terrestrial animals that are relatively easy to care for. They can pinch hard if they are threatened but then again, dogs can bite hard too. They are also really cool to watch as they move around, totally alien compared to mammal pets.
