Netherlands

Well, I have arrived in the Netherlands. In Amsterdam I stayed at a hostel and must say I hate people who snore!!! In Amsterdam I took a tour of the city and it was pretty fascinating. Here is the entry to the old men's prison (notice the chains and justice). Now it is the entrance of a mall.

This is the woman's prison. Women would be picked up from the prostitutes area and sent to work for a few days for moral correction but then released back to work the street.

I really liked this about the houses in Amsterdam, the central beam of the house is extended so that when the time comes to move, a pulley is attached and things are raise outside rather than up the narrow stairs.

Here is an evening view down the red light district. Rather than the cars going up and down Robson street for partying, boats would blare music and go up and down the canal.

Then it was time to visit the Hague. Dan pointed out that after high school graduation, students would hang their backpacks and a flag outside their home to celebrate.

Here is a very pretty picture of the Peace palace.

Me on the North Sea.

The great flood control works in Zeeland.
