On the weekend, on a whim, we decided to head to Landquart for some shopping. I realize, most of my clothes is from my PhD, and even early in my PhD.... The shopping was moderately productive and the day was beautiful! Landquart is about 1000m lower than Davos and spring was in full force down in the lowlands. In Davos there is still snow in town in the shadows and low on the mountains around.
To make more use of the beautiful sunny day we then went to Maienfeld, the town where Heidi is from.
You start in the town of Maienfeld and spend some hours hiking around up the foot of the mountain to Heidi's 'house' above. We very quickly were on the wrong path and rather than going through the lovely vineyards, we instead walked up the busy, albeit, pretty small country road. All the motorcycles were out enjoying the curves.
At the Heidi house we decided against paying admission to look inside and instead checked out the goats outside.
Then we walked around to try and find Heidi's well. After a wrong turn through a beautiful forest, we ended up at the well and in a beautiful picnic park. There was a washroom and parking and lots of BBQ's available.
We sat in the sunshine and enjoyed the view after stopping at the fountain showing Heidi and her goat.
I had fun sitting and playing with various camera functions.
After the park we walked back to the town only to miss our train by a few minutes.
That made us late to Landquart, and as we waited, back into the shopping centre we went!
